The Twenty-First Sunday After Pentecost
Readings: Deuteronomy 34:1-12; Psalm 90:1-6 & 13-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:1-13; Matthew 22:34-46.
There is a simple reason for Jesus’ command to love God with all our being and to love our neighbour as ourselves: Love is what following Jesus looks like. Throughout Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection we see one focused on God in every aspect of his humanity and one willing to give fully of himself for the sake of others. Jesus loved God and neighbour. We are called to be students of the same.
May we always find our joy and fulfilment in this imitation. After all, Jesus was the only fully-human human. We fulfil our deepest calling as we learn to be like him.
All are welcome to come to either of our services this Sunday morning. Holy Communion will be held at 9:00am at St Barnabas and 11:00am at St Michael’s.
