Thank you to everyone who baked, potted plants, or made jams and relishes for our stall at the Hartley Hall Markets on Father’s Day. It was a beautiful day, fantastic weather, and once again a lovely social time. The fresh cakes attracted a lot of attention (and sold well), and people stopped and chatted. We met new and old friends, and, in keeping with the country atmosphere, lots of dogs (and a cockatoo). We were often able to talk about our church community, our upcoming fete and the blessing of the animals planned for late October. Several parishioners turned up during the day to make it a social event behind the counter as well, which provided a chance for everyone to browse the rest of the markets and sing with Johnny Huckle. We are grateful to the organisers of the markets for placing us much more centrally than last time, with lovely neighbouring stall holders.
